Still Life

Still Life

Spreading dawn
Delicate pearl-pink
Fiery red weaves ragged clouds

A cardinal darts
Among snow powdered
Spruce branches
Spinkling snow dust
On grave stones
Plastic Christmas flowers
Ribboned wreaths

A mourning dove coo-oos
Honey colored
Light spreads blue shadows

Beyond the wrought-iron fence
Morning rush hour traffic
Passes on a gray thread of road
